Common Parenting Time Schedules

  • 2-2-3 Schedule: The child spends 2 days with parent A, 2 days with parent B, and 3 days over the weekend alternating back.
  • Alternating Weeks (50/50): The child spends one full week with one parent and the next week with the other.
  • 3-4-4-3 Schedule. A variation of equal time where blocks of 3 and 4 days are split between homes.
  • Alternating Weekends: One parent has the child during the week, and the other has them every other weekend (sometimes paired with a mid-week overnight or evening visit)
  • 2-2-5-5 Parenting Schedule Rotation: A rotation of two days with one parent, two days with the other parent, five days with one parent, five days with the other parent.
  • 3-3-4-4- Parenting Schedule Rotation. A rotation of three days with one parent, three days with the other parent, four days with one parent, then four days with the other parent.
  • 5th Weekend. A regular schedule is in place for each month, but months that include a 5th weekend have to have a special arrangement for that 5th weekend

Kentucky does not provide a single official statewide mandatory template form for a parenting plan. Instead, parents typically draft their own written agreement or use customized templates—such as those provided by local county family courts or online tools like Custody X Change.
